Materials Used To Construct Zip Lines

Zip lines require towers; otherwise, zip lines may not be used. The material used for these towers differs altogether from the material used for constructing the zip line. They should, however, be sturdy enough and are generally the same material used in constructing big and strong buildings such as the Melbourne City Conference Centre.

These words help you not be confused about the material needed for the construction of a zip line or its tower. We are going to discuss the types of material used for the construction of the zip line. Zip lines and their material do not vary significantly. However, the only difference is concerning the extent of use. For a residential or small scale use, materials of lesser quality may work. However, the material should be of high quality and durability for commercial uses. In both circumstances, any mistake may cost injury or casualty; therefore, the selection of material is a very serious decision.

Material and Tools:

To construct an adult zip line, you need a steel cable, a pulley, a rounded wooden stick, a Carabiner, nylon rope, cable clamps, turnbuckles, and rubber tube. These materials construct a zip line in its simple form. For a more complex zip line, more material may be in need. It is important to note that the nature of the material does not differ greatly because the purpose and material remain similar. The round wood enables the rider to hold the zip line with his hands. It is better to wrap a paper around the wood. It would protect the rider from the splinters of the wood. Now, you need a drill that can make holes in the wood. It would enable the rope to cross through the wood, and it is up to you to decide the diameter of these holes. They may be double the diameter of a rope or equal to it. Both options are ok.

Now, you need the rope to fit in the wood. You have to pass the rope through holes in the wood. It is better to bur the ends of the rope with a lighter. It would make the rope ends and joints more resistant and durable. Then it comes the most important part of preparing the cables. They would transport the rider from one place to the other. The use of clamps, measurement of the tree’s circumference, and joining them from both ends are helpful at this stage of preparing a zip line. This process is sensitive, and the material for cables should be durable.

Then it is the stage to attach cables to the trees. Joints in the cable should be strong enough to carry the rider. These should not break and should be able to lift the weight of the rider. Then, you have to attach the main cable with the cables tied to the trees. The main cable should have a handle that can connect the rope and the pulley. The Carabiner is used to connect the rope and the pulley. Then, you can test and improve the zip line.

Commercial zip lines:

Zip lines may be constructed and used in your backyard, but commercial uses of zip lines are also numerous. These zip lines stretch to 300 feet in length. Commercial companies use them. Zip lines are attached to trees on both ends; otherwise, zip line towers hold the cable on both sides. The main cable is made of metal that is usually made of stainless steel. As it is constructed outdoors, therefore, material not prone to rust is preferable. Stainless steel serves the job for the zip line. Commercial uses have extensive use of them. Therefore, a trolley may be used to connect with the handle. Usually, an individual rides to one handle on the zip line because the main cable should not be pressurised with more weight. All materials used for the construction of the zip line or supporting material should be durable so that one can use it without any fear. As has been mentioned, these materials should be of the highest quality and strength that they can be used in constructing a building. It is thus common, to see the materials such as steel in commercial buildings such as the conference venues in Melbourne, to be used as zipline components.

Zip Line Training

In addition to installation, review and equipment sales, zip line training services are also required. Whether you’ve got a single zip line, a zip tour or even a canopy tour, a trained and certfied staff can design and implement a training program custom created to different site specific zip lining locations.

Standards Trained To:

The trainings are conducted to meet or surpass the standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and or ASTM International Amusement Ride and Device Standards. The criteria utilized will depend on your type of company; kind and number of zip lines set up; the state of setup and applicable regulations as well as the number of employees in the training and some previous experiences they might have.
